Health and Wellbeing

With Healthy Start you get free vouchers (£3.10 per week) to spend on milk, plain fresh and frozen fruit and veg and infant formula milk. You also get free vitamins.

Are you pregnant or do you have children under the age of 4? You could qualify if you are on benefits, or if you are pregnant and under 18.

Speak to a member of staff at your Children’s Centre to check if you qualify and to get help to apply for your Healthy Start Vouchers.

You are welcome to use our children’s centres while you are pregnant – you don’t have to wait until your child/children are born.

Healthy Early Years Messages for parents to be:

  • Make a booking - in appointment with your midwife as soon as you can
  • Come to the Children's Centre and find out what’s on offer
  • Healthy Start for you and your baby

If you are thinking about how to feed your baby, we can help you. You can speak to a Health Visitor or Nursery Nurse at one of your Child Health Drop-ins (See Timetable for more details).

There are also breastfeeding drop-ins running every day of the week throughout the borough.

Click on this link to find out where they are:

All of our Children’s Centres are breast-feeding friendly – so is the Quaggy Café!

You may have done dry Jnauary but Public Health advise us all to watch the amount of alcohol throughout the whole year. If you do drink alcohol then here is some great advice and help to ensure that you are not drinking too much. You can download this information at the bottom of this page.
