Rita's Story

Pedrita (Rita) was a parent who first came to Quaggy over 3 years ago. She was finding accessing services difficult as she had just had twins and getting out of her flat sometimes proved difficult. Quaggy Children's Centre Community Outreach Workers were asked to support her in accessing the centre to help with the feelings of isolation and support her children's development. Rita attended a Save a Baby's Life course with her young babies and this taught her basic first aid to deal with burns, choking, drowning and other serious situations.

Since that time, with the support of the centre. she accessed parenting courses, a training course on how to support other parents and lots more. She then joined the Quaggy Parent Forum and became an active member of the group supporting the community and developing opportunities for parents to get involved with local events.

She then volunteered at Quaggy Children's Centre and applied for a job as an Early Years Playworker. She is now a valued member of our team and we are proud of the achievements she has made. Rita is one of our success stories that make us love the work we do in supporting others and improving the lives of children and families,
